Maine Homes sales soared to near record heights in January according to latest figures.

Last month ranks as the second biggest January for Realtor involved property transactions since records began 24 years ago as the market continued to bounce back to pre-pandemic levels.

Statewide units sold were actually down by over 7% on January of last year but up 10% on January 2020 and before COVID took a grip.

The statistics are contained in the latest release from Maine Listings. These also reveal a median sales price (MSP) for single-family existing homes rose by almost 14.5% to stand at $292,500 when comparing January 2022 to January 2021.

The MSP indicates that half of the homes were sold for more and half sold for less.

Industry watchers highlight how increasing sales prices and remote working opportunities have combined to give a lift to the market in rural areas.
